It looks like the hurricane is going to affect nearly all of Florida if
it continues on the current track. I forget exactly where you're
located; are you and your family under an evacuation order? Be safe! :)

Manatee County. I'm just south of Tampa Bay. My daughter is here as
she had to evacuate. Granddaughter is with a friend. Put shutters on a
few of the windows.

Things can change but it will be one of the worst in this area if it
stays as forecast. We could see 110 mph winds and 10 inches of rain.

Fortunately, building codes for recent years is for 150 mph. About this
time tomorrow is when it really gets heavy. Storm surge should not
affect as I'm 20 miles from the coast.

Those building code changes are a good thing. :) They've issued
"watches" in Beaufort (SC) County mostly due to possible storm surges if
it continues on the current track.

Got any hurricane food planned?

Grilled a spatchcocked chicken tonight. I have gas so should be able to
cook but chicken cold is always handy to have anyway.

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully you won't lose electricity or have any
damage.

It looked like Pinellas County was going to get hit from both
sides, but at least the eye looks to miss Tampa Bay to the
southeast, so it could be worse. Not good for Charlotte Bay,
as they'll be at high tide when the eye hits them.

If your fridge is operational... good idea to freeze some tubs of
water... may be a bit late now. I'd check out where the closest place
is to buy dry ice... there was always tons of dry ice where I worked
at BNL.gov

When a hurricane is approaching or even later with a wide power outage,
dry ice and even regular ice is the first to "sold out."

Be Prepared. Plan for the worst and be happy when it's not so bad.
