Yesterday, I finished off Fallout, and watched a movie:

Fallout (Prime) - Last two episodes of season #2.
Yeah, I figured it was going to turn out like this... I have no idea
if the premise problem here is from the video games themselves, or if
the TV show sort of grafted on their own "premise" here, but either way
I didn't buy this world's "origin" or the motivation of the "bad guys".
It also seems like the TV series didn't delve enough into the
background with the various "factions" (esp. the New Calif. Republic vs.
the Brotherhood of Steel).
Anyway, I will keep watching this - there's some promise with more
Lucy teaming up with The Ghoul. But the resolution to season #1 left a
lot to be desired. In addition to strongly disliking and not buying the
motives of Vault-Tec, etc., I was also strongly annoyed with Norm's fate
(though I did very much like the brain-in-the-jar robot!) - Will we even
see Moises Arias in season #2?!

I Am Rage (Prime) - This 2023 film is absolutely ridiculous -
unfortunately, it wasn't *ridiculous enough*!
It opens with a seemingly unrelated thing showing some masked woman
(Marta Svetek), surrounding by other apparent cult figures in masks,
killing and exsanguinating some dude.
This stars Hannaj Bang Bendz (who I am quite sure I have seen in
something else before, though I can't for the life of me figure out what
that was!) as a woman who clearly has psychological issues. Her new
boyfriend (Derek Nelson) wants to take her on a camping trip with his
brother, and then to his parents' country estate to meet his whole family.
The movie itself is kind of weird - Bendz is clearly British, and
this clearly filmed in the UK, but the boyfriend and his family, and the
"big client", are clearly supposed to be American(?!).
Anyway, the boyfriend's brother seems shady, though his fairly hott
slutty girlfriend (Antonia Whillans) seems OK.
Of course, things are not what they seem, and when they get to the
parents' manor, soon enough things take a turn. It's not long before the
lead's "rage issues" start coming in handy.
The problems here are: 1) this takes way too long to get going, 2)
when it does get going, it's still sluggish, and 3) with such an
ridiculous over-the-top concept, they should have just embraced it and
taken it to the hilt by going "over-the-top" with it. Instead, they
never really embrace the ridiculousness (save in one or two places), and
so the whole film doesn't really work.
Another issue is that Bendz doesn't seem like any sort of "martial
arts expert" (none of the cast do!), and if you're going to do a flick
with a fair but of hand-to-hand fighting, you really need to have
castmembers who are good at that (or good at faking it!), or the film
suffers from being unbelievable, with lackadaisical fight scenes.
So, the problem here wasn't the premise, at least in terms of the
lead's origins - it was more like a lack of preparation and follow-through.
Also, I was disappointed when it turned out the baddies weren't
actual vampires, just a kind of "faux vampire".

What did you watch?

Having just watched the last two episode of season #2, don't you already
know the answer to that? ;)

I've done good in this world. Now I'm tired and just want to be a cranky

It's just a typo - watched the last two episodes of season #1. I'm
pretty sure DT got that and was just making fun of my typo...

Hey, thanks for asking!

BLUE BLOODS S17E07 “On the Ropes“

Man, they are really coasting now that they know it’s over.

Danny and Baez take an injured kidnapper to the hospital where the first
unhelpful nurse they run into will turn out to be killing diabetics because
they don’t deserve resources wasted on them. This will be solved after a
series of ridiculous coincidences.

Anthony takes a pair of shoes to be repaired to a father and son repair
shop directly across the street from the courthouse steps which seems
unlikely. He finds them packing up because a crooked lawyer threatened that
if they didn’t give him money that he would bury them in ADA fines. The
shopkeeper waves the soon to be murder weapon at the camera, and tells the
audience what it is.

Jamie‘s nitwit captain gets a phone call from him asking for his schedule
for the day and she tells him.

Morning briefing in Magnum‘s office (which should’ve taken place hours
before a little fix-it shop would open). Baker is wearing a white on the
right side black on the left side dress. That makes her look like either
Frank Gorshin or Lou Antonio from Star Trek. Or come to think of it Sherry
Jackson. Gormley has a bandaged nose and announces he’s going to fight a
cop, 20 years younger than him to the death in a department sanctioned
smoker.

Jamie is escorting a witness and gets ambushed by guys waving automatic
weapons, who scurry away when somebody with a pistol gets one shot back at
them. Jamie’s car apparently has bullet resistant side window glass open
bullets, spiderweb it, but do not penetrate), a completely invulnerable
windshield that doesn’t even get a mark and plain house window glass for
the rear window. Nobody makes any attempt to find the shooter who was
shot.

Jamie tells his nitwit captain that he didn’t call her. His witness was
going to testify against computer AI villains, who also drive around in
masks and vans with automatic weapons.

Anthony tells Erin about the crooked lawyer shaking down people across the
street from the courthouse. Lazy pro crime Erin refuses to help and the
victim ends up dead.

Anthony rousts the crooked lawyer on a street corner.

Jamie and Eddie get a call at home that turns out to be from the AI
scammers who warn them they have their email passwords and will use them if
they don’t leave them alone which seems to be a substantial de-escalation
from shooting their car to pieces in broad daylight.

Since the AI crooks know everything, why did they bother to make a fake
phone call to the captain to get Jamie‘s schedule?

Henry tells Frank to stay out of the smoker business.

A dishonest and incompetent IOB person calls in Anthony and tries to frame
him with security camera footage of somebody beating the shit out of the
crooked lawyer with the murder weapon we saw earlier. Because of budget
cuts she’s by herself even though every other time in the series we’ve
always seen these vermin travel in pairs. Anthony laughs at her because the
masked assailant in the video is like half his size.

At family dinner, they discuss the smoker. It seems the only living Reagan
to have ever won their prize fight. Is that idiot, Eddie, a year after she
partnered with Jamie and yet, Jamie has never heard of this. This seems
unlikely.
She also explains how AI works and what it does and gets it all wrong. You
would really think these lines should have gone to the grandson.

Danny and Baez harass an innocent suspect.

Jamie brings his captain in for an undercover sting, even though she
totally booted her last undercover sting, what, a week ago?

Anthony figures out that the shopkeeper is the guy who gave the crooked
lawyer his deserved beating and he and the guy’s son find he hung himself
in the repair shop.

Danny catches the diabetic killer in action and they let her stand there
and give a prolonged speech about how all diabetics should die and make the
world a better place.

Anthony tells Erin that the crooked lawyer is suing the shopkeepers estate
for beating him up.

Anthony and Erin go visit the crooked lawyer in the hospital and the
crooked lawyer doesn’t have any idea that the shopkeeper is the one who
beat him up. They aren’t even trying at this point.

Erin figures out some phony baloney charges to put the crooked lawyer away.
Now that they’ve gotten the original victim killed. It seems he claimed to
be representing actual people who weren’t disabled instead of just finding
disabled people to represent or making up names.

Frank puts an end to the smoker fight by telling them that their health
insurance won’t cover it.

Baker is wearing a simple, dark green blouse and skirt that is quite
fetching on her.

PACIFIC BLUE (covered elsewhere.)

I've never played the games, but from what I've heard in the games the
Brotherhood is somewhat colluding with Vault-Tec. I can't speak to the
origins, but my understanding is the series followed the basic premise
of the game closely. But at the end of the day, since I never played
the games, I don't really care how close the show is to the games.

I watched:

Survivor - "Spicy Jeff" - Only worth mentioning because in this episode
Jeff was Spicy. He literally brought a pillow and some popcorn! LOL

There were two movies that debuted this weekend. "Boy Kills World" and
"Challengers." "Boy Kills World" is a new action comedy starring Bill
Skarsgård as a deaf-mute young man who goes on a blood soaked revenge
spree to slaughter the people who killed his family. The movie also
stars Jessica Rothe, Famke Janssen, Sharlto Copley, and "Mad Dog" from
the Raid movies. How could you possibly go wrong? "Challengers" on the
other hand is a 2 hour long drama starring Zendeya. The plot involves
her being in a love triangle with tennis players. So it was not a hard
decision picking which movie to see on Thursday night. Except "Boy
Kills World" was not playing in IMAX or Dolby cinema. All the high
quality theater screens had been taken over by "Challengers." So I went
to the local theater and saw "Boy Kills World" on a regular screen...

"Boy Kills World" - I actually saw this on Thursday night, but didn't
feel like talking about it. Given the cast and premise I went into this
with high expectations. My expectations were crushed. I though I was
going to get "Crank" and instead I got "Gamer." :-( It's just a mess
of a movie. I'm trying to wrap my head around this is a hard "R"
revenge fueled blood fest (with "Mad Dog" from the Raid movies!), and
yet I was nodding off due to boredom.

So after the movie I headed over to Rogerebert.com and saw they gave
"Boy Kills World" 1 star. I also noticed they gave "Challengers," the
movie that stole all the Dolby Cinema and IMAX screens, 3 1/2 half
stars. So I went to see "Challengers" in Dolby Cinema Friday night.

"Challengers" - The plot is actually kind of hard to describe without
getting into spoilers, and that's in spite of the fact the plot is very
basic. Zendeya stars as a former tennis pro who is now married to a
famous tennis player and is his coach. But there is a bit of a love
triangle (or hate triangle) with her husband's rival and former best
friend. This movie was surprisingly really good. Much better than the
blood soaked revenge fest. Although "Challengers" is also very "R."
The vibe of this movie feels a *lot* like "Less Than Zero" or "Rules of
Attraction," and could easily be set in that universe (there are several
movies set in that universe). I checked the credits to make sure it
wasn't actually based on a Bret Easton Ellis book, because it felt like
it was. The movie also borrows a page from "Memento" and tells the
story in somewhat reverse order. It's not always going in reverse, but
there are a lot of jumping around in time, usually backwards.

Anyway, decide for yourself:

I doubt I am going to like this movie at all. [shrug]

Years ago, Jack-in-the-Box started outsourcing the drive-through voice to
India. I have no idea how they possibly thought this would save money. It

I recently watched 'Gamer' (aka 'Crank 3'). You thought there was a
noticeable difference between it and the Crank movies?

Yes - "Gamer" was much worse than the "Crank" films (even the second one!).

Yeah, I commented at the time that I *want* to like "Gamer" but it just
doesn't work for me. Something similar happened with "Equilibrium."
It's an excellent movie. Then the writer/director's next movie,
"Ultraviolet" which went for the same vibe, but was pure crap.

Wow. Some fun facts - Kurt Wimmer didn't direct another film after
2006's "Ultraviolet" until the "Children of the Corn" reboot in 2020
(which I've been meaning to get to).

But he's written a bunch of stuff since, including "Law Abiding
Citizen", "Salt", the "Total Recall" and "Point Break" reboots (in
addition to "Children of the Corn"), and "The Beekeeper"!

Hey, thanks for asking!

PACIFIC BLUE
I’d watched a lot of episodes of this cops on bicycles in Santa Monica
series over the years but this time I dug in and watched all the important
and very special episodes where major characters joined and left. It’s a
really silly show with flying bicycles. Seriously they’ll be riding the cop
bicycles as fast as they can and a truck will get in the way And by just
lifting their handlebars, they fly over it the long way without ever
touching it or hitting an up ramp or anything.
Only two of the original leads are left by the end, the important one of
which is the incredibly hot Paula Tricky. Who plays a policewoman who keeps
having pregnancy scares. The series ends with her opening a folder that may
or may not tell her who the father of her current baby is and she says OH
MY GOD and it’s over.

DANGER BENEATH THE SEA (2001)
Caspar Van Dean is the rookie sub commander and Gerald McRaney is “admiral
justice“ as a training mission goes wrong, and the sub may nuke South Korea
or something. When it was done to be played:

AMERICA IS SINKING
Michael Pere is the only actor you’ve ever heard of and he’s pretty clearly
been sedated. Basically, there are simultaneous earthquakes on the east and
west coast which causes them to break free and now everything in between
will sink. Their big plan is to drill giant sinkholes to let out the water
and extinguish the runaway Morton core, which will stop earthquakes, and
everything will be well again. I mean this would be hysterically funny if
they weren’t serious. There are also EMP cannons that can stop sonic
vibrations with their blinding light.

I strongly preferred Sci-Fi Saturday's cheap-o sword-and-sorcery flicks
- they weren't top-notch, but they were often watchable.

Or their monster flicks played for laughs (e.g. "Mansquito").

Their straight Asylum pics were pretty universally their worst
offerings. :|
