I was standing, in a line of one, at the supermarket the other day,
waiting for the checker to clear a massive order, and noticed Betty
Crocker cookie dough at two for five bucks. I bought a chocolate-chip
and a sugar cookie bag.
I processed the chocolate-chip cookies the other night, and they were
pretty damned good. I'm planning to put some chopped pecans in the
sugar cookie recipe and make some sort of Sandies. We'll see.
I thought I got a helluva deal but found out that's what the mix costs
online-everyday, or close to it. No shipping cost to me though.
Back in the day, I made plenty of cookies. With this mix, I only needed
to add milk and softened butter to one [count 'em] ONE bowl!

So when are you going break out your bowl again and do the sugar
cookies? Maybe add some colored sugar sprinkles?

Soon! It was all too easy. The hardest part was transferring the dough
to the cookie pans. I forgot how. :(
I'm better now, I think. Inconsistent size, but good, is still good.

Maybe because of the directions on a Hershey's morsels bag, I always mix
the sugar, eggs and liquids in one bowl and the dry stuff in another.
I do the same thing for cornbread but not for Yorkshire pudding.

If you like brownies, I recommend these:

https://www.myfoodandfamily.com/recipe/054515/bakers-one-bowl-brownies

I suppose if you don't have a microwave, you could melt the butter
and chocolate over boiling water. That would dirty a pot, but you
probably could just dump out the boiling water, dry the pot, and
put it away.

the scoops work well for Mom when she's making them.
puts them on the cookie sheet and then she smushes them a
bit to get them about the same thickness and then bakes.
she does a few hundred at a time.

i stay out of the kitchen most of the time when she's
baking because i don't want to mess her up where she's at
in her recipe, but when she takes a break i'll get in
there like the good sous chef i am and do the dishes.

songbird (will wash dishes for cookie dough

I've always used a second bowl for dry ingredients, also. That one's
easy to wipe out afterward. I make it from scratch (recipe on the toll
house chip bag), and scoop a heaping teaspoon full and dollop them
spaced out a few inches onto the cookie sheet. They spread out nicely;
no need to be perfectly uniform.

If you're making roll cookies instead, once you cut them out, use a thin
metal spatula to transfer them to the baking sheet. A lightly floured
surface while rolling them out ought to help.

i forgot that you were talking about pre made cookie dough in
rolls that you were cutting, but in the future if you're making
cookies from scratch and want an easier way to get them a more
uniform size you can use something like one of these (i'd only
get ones that are all metal):

they save a huge amount of time when you're baking a lot of
cookies.

They certainly do!
I have a collection of them in a range of sizes, used not just for
cookies, but for meatballs, dumplings, muffins, and cupcakes.

I do too but never seem to have just the right size:-(
I made some florentines yesterday and it was easier to use a teaspoon
to dole out the walnut-sized lumps of mix. They sure do spread while
baking. This was an easy recipe but the results were not quite as good
as those I made 2 weeks ago that used a sugar syrup boiled to soft-ball
stage.
