Done deal! Elon Musk formally takes over Twitter - as he fires
'several' top executives in his first power move

Elon Musk on Thursday formally took control of Twitter, having
made a high-profile visit to the San Francisco headquarters
the day before

As soon as his $44 billion takeover was finalized on Thursday
night he fired the CEO, chief financial officer and head of
legal policy, trust and safety

Musk had publicly criticized the leadership team and challenged
them over their policies, in particular regarding censorship

The trio were escorted from the building on Thursday evening,

We will see how the "woke" Twitter users think about this. Maybe
Twitter will loose a significant amount of their users, but it may get
new ones that were banned/annoyed before.

They've banned so many over sociopolitical heresy I think
many would re-join just out of a sense of revenge - even
Trump.

The totalitarian bias NEVER disappeared in Germany, even
after Hitler was gone. Right/Left - the knee-jerk reflex
to silence the opposition remains. Thou shall say/believe
what the State SAYS, or ELSE .....

IMHO, Musk should just say "Fuck It !" and NOT make the
slightest attempt to customize Twitter content to whatever
censorious States complain about. This will make their
citizens SNEAK AROUND blocks ... make them see their
governments as The Enemy.

It is a question of time until many governments will block such a
service.

Internet censorship is common in many countries, even 1st world.

Good ... it will make their citizens SNEAK AROUND with
even MORE energy, see their own hyper-controlling govts
as The Enemy even more. If you want something to become
hyper-popular, just BAN it.

Governments shouldn't always get what they want. Governments
are made of people, and people have vast, sometimes dark,
ambitions. The US Bill Of Rights is all about keeping the
State from getting everything it might want.

Musk is in a very good position to actually deal a major
blow to censorship. Let's see if he will.

Musk IS one of the best-placed people however - super-rich,
international fame, highest-profile. So, we'll see.

All he has to do is tell people in censorious countries that
there ARE ways to bypass govt restrictions on speech. They'll
do the rest .... make the govts look like fools ........
