A recent thread resurrected a meal that we hadn't eaten in twenty years.
While google would have given us new ideas, we went from memory. My
wife tells me that it needs salt. There's no peas in it and a whole lot
to eat. We added a can of mushrooms.

I didn't see any recent thread because it's probably burred in
some bullshit topic, but you must be referring to tuna noodle
casserole as soon as I saw "peas"...

Last batch I made 12-13 years ago I used a box of frozen peas and
just dumped them in there. They were littered with sand and
ruined the whole fucking thing.

Poor Steve. That sounds almost as bad as your sardine experience from

Good idea! Next time. I crushed saltines and parmesan together. I like

The worst, trashiest casserole ever dreamed up by
a ladies' magazine. I guess he used canned
mushrooms because he was out of canned peas.
I'd rather eat Kuthe's beans and rice--assuming
they were prepared by someone other than the
King of the CUM RAGS.

I was going to goad somebody into saying, "Oh, sardines are just
wonderful/divine/delicious!!!" and then lay into them about how
bad they sucked and people like 'you' shouldn't be encouraging
others to prepare and eat them themselves.

But I didn't want to have to followup to my covert troll after all
and just said it like it was so no sardine sympathizers would dare
speak up.

Not my fault. I'd never make anyone eat tuna noodle casserole.
Hot, canned tuna. No. Just, no.

I'd be much more likely to make someone eat this:

haha! all good to me. haven't had it in a long time
though since many many years ago it was almost daily they
would eat tuna slop here (tuna, noodles and whatever
veggies they'd mix in). sometimes food is just fuel and
i wouldn't turn up my nose at it.

I never met anyone who lived in a prison camp before.
I guess that some folks really do merit being slopped
like pigs.

Sounds like you've just never made a good dish of it.

No one "makes" another person eat something.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever eaten it. I dislike casseroles,
and hot tuna doesn't appeal.

Don't you think I know what I like and what I dislike? I've had
a lot of practice and figuring that out.

Then why is the subject line "Y'all made me do this" ?

"Hot Tuna" doesn't appeal to everyone, but it is a pretty good band.
They've been around forever.

<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Tuna>

Their failure to become legendary was not naming themselves, "Hot Tuna
Casserole". ;)

Never heard of them, but apparently they were "Jefferson Airplane"
without Grace Slick, while she was recovering from surgery.

I like that song "White Rabbit". I could probably listen to that trippy
song for 15 minutes, if they sang it that long. It just draws me in.

Interestingly, Grace Slick's brother-in-law,
Darby Slick, was the one who wrote

I knew the song well from a local AM oldies station, but I honestly
didn't know that Grace Slick sang it... it caught me off guard when that
song played, but I wasn't surprised, due to similarity in the voice.

Maybe an EE like Kuthe can explain why, but AM is more prone to
interference and static than FM.

When I was working, I'd listen to our local AM station from 6:30 to 6:40
for the local news so I've not listened for the past 6 years. I'd not
miss it.

The younger crowd want to connect their phone with Bluetooth so they can
listed to Spotify and such.

Kuth is busy looking for a job, so I'll try to help.

Somewhere on earth, there is always lightning, which produces a
much stronger AM signal than FM. (Lightning's frequency spectrum is
essentially the Fourier transform of the Dirac delta function.)

There are many other contributing reasons, such as cosmic rays,
industrial equipment, arc welders, electric transmission lines
(arcing, surges),etc. But lightning is probably predominate.

That's unfortunate. I still listen to AM radio daily; some stations day
time, and others long-distance in the evening. Car and home, but
primarily in my car. I'm surprised that 20 per cent of Americans still
listen to AM radio regularly.

There have already been a few new non-electric (ICE) cars that have cut
out AM radio. Many new cars have poor quality AM radios, or a lack of
shielding... and they just sound terrible. On another note, I've owned
a number a cars with AM-only radios from factory; one speaker in the
dash board.

I parked my '64 Olds 88 in the garage for the winter the other day. I
imagine the base version had a radio delete plate. This one was ordered
with an AM radio, solid state, I think. It lights up, but no sound.
I'll tinker with it some day.

The rear dash cover is missing, and I did note the hole that looks like
it could hold a speaker, from the factory, in the rear dash sheet metal.
I thought that was very odd... thanks, I would have never guessed that
was a factory speaker option. Probably only with the top end FM radio.
Maybe a couple more years until 8-track was an option.

Umm, Michael. Do you think maybe the sound
problem might just be missing speakers?

LOL, that would be a simple fix. Per Greg, some kind of fancy
reverberation rear speaker was offered as an option (mine does not have it).

The front dash speaker is there, and that's all that's standard. It
might be a wiring issue... or a missing antenna... either way, pretty
low on the fix-it list. The car only has front drum brakes operational.
