Panang chicken curry. I tried it a couple weeks ago but I was a little
short on a couple ingredients. This time I had more and fresher ginger
and lots of basil. It was delicious.

What else: salad with grilled chicken.

We had some garlicky bread crumbs left from the weekend's veal parm,
so I threw some on top of the chicken, by way of micro-croutons. It
was pretty good; I'll plan on using them up this way.

Those giant popcorn cannisters with caramel/cheese/and some other flavored popcorn are great mouse traps. Especially, when all the popcorn is gone except for a few cheese kernels.

A house cat does a better job.

Yes, and we would have one, but I am extremely allergic to cats. We do
try to encourage them to patrol around the house and garden, though.

We used to have cats but they were not allowed in the house. My wife is
allergic and I don't appreciate the smell or their behaviours. They
were supposed to catch rodents. Unfortunately, the were a little lower
on the food pyramid than the local coyotes and had a habit of going on
the road.

These are my daily visitors:
https://postimg.cc/JDY24h3C

They've been around since August when they took up residence, I think to
hide from a reported coyote in the park nearby.

I was running errands with my wife yesterday and dropped her at a
palliative care hospital to visit her friend. It was close to the
neighbourhood in which I had grown up so I went for a tour of my old
stomping grounds. Just down the road from our old house is a former open
concept school now research centre for the university. I turned around
in their parking lot and there were three nice looking and good sized
does. If I had been in car I would have caught them on the dash cam but
it was my wife's new car.

That's unfortunate. I have a mild allergy, and some specific cats
bother me more than others. I was used to cats at my mothers house, and
once I was in my house for 6+ months, I adopted a cat. I regretted it
at first, because I was miserable for a while, but I got used to it.
She is a good mouser; she leaves two or three of them on the kitchen
floor at the start of the cold weather every year.

My father had horrible cat allergies as a child. His parents basically
told him to "suck it up", and he was horribly miserable for a few years.
I guess you can get used to anything. He has a few cats now, and
always had them while I was growing up. He doesn't seem to be allergic
to them, now.

They were child abusers. I hope that he exacted
some revenge on them when they were elderly
instead of emulating their abuse with his own kids.

My first cat, Persia, was not a mouser. One day at my apartment in TN I
was sitting in the living room reading and she started meowing loudly
near the entrance to the kitchen. I got up and looked and there was a
dead mouse in the middle of the kitchen floor. She steadfastly refused
to go into the kitchen until I disposed of it. Goofy cat. :)

That's odd... If she didn't kill it, how did a dead mouse get into the

My father is not abusive. My paternal grandfather died a few years
before I was born. From the stories that you've mentioned about your
father, the two men didn't sound very far off. Grandma remarried a good
man, but he's gone now, also. Grandma can be rough around the edges,
but I wouldn't describe her as "abusive". From stories that I've heard,
her mother surely mentally abused her when she was little.

Either way, Bryan, I'd like to think that, in general, there's a happy
medium between the options of "emulating abuse to your own children" and
"exacting revenge on elderly parents". I'm thinking something along the
lines of, forgiving and forgetting about the past, or at least moving
forward positively... and using your own experience to treat your own
children better.

A lot of cat owners want to believe that their pet is not a nasty, cold-blooded, killer that kills just for the fun it it. I didn't think that our cat was a killer but last week I came home and she was at the door waiting to let her in. She had small baby chicken feather on her lip. It was pretty goofy looking but I pretty much knew what it meant.

I didn't think that our cat was a killer but last week I came home and she was at the door waiting to let her in. She had small baby chicken feather on her lip. It was pretty goofy looking but I pretty much knew what it meant.

That's why people should keep cats indoors. It protects the cats and
it protects the small native wildlife. People who think their cat
doesn't kill birds and critters, must think denial's a river in Egypt.

Indoor, cat hair collects in and fills up ladies private parts. That's what a girl told me. Also, cats scratch the furniture & rugs to bits.

I have no idea. It was the only mouse I ever saw in that apartment. It
was just dead, not bloody.

You misused quotation marks. They should only be used
for *exact* quotes, and any variation within should be set
off by brackets ([ ]s). Any words omitted within quoted
text should be replaced by an ellipsis (...).

Your religion requires you to forgive those who repent. It
*does not* require you to forgive the unrepentant. *That*
is "a happy medium." To misquote a person is to suggest
that the person said something that the person did not
say, and is essentially bearing false witness, which is the
only variety of lie forbidden by the Ten Commandments.

I think I'm getting cat hair in my belly button. I hate those fucking cats. Merry god-damn Christmas, cats!

That's a funny thought. Perhaps Persia killed the mouse then immediately
felt guilty for doing so. Later, wouldn't go into the kitchen until it
was removed. heh heh

Funny thought, but since some idiot had her declawed before she came to
live with me how exactly would she have killed it? Mice are pretty darn
fast and without front claws how would she have managed to grab hold of
it? That's the only mouse I ever saw in my apartment and I lived there
12 years.
