That won't do much good. We get an extra Representative this year for a
grand total of 2. Unless they manage to screw up they'll be Republicans.
The Democratic Senator doesn't go looking for a job until the next cycle.

Then there's the long list of so-called Republicans that need to go but
they're not from my state and I can't do anything.

It's relative. Could be better than it is, but still better than it
would have been.

So far, we've not shot missiles into Mexico.

Unprovable assumption up the line of 'if we hadn't had the lock downs it
would have been a lot worse'. Mexico might even appreciate a few
Hellfire strikes on the Zetas.

Right, the same speculative trading that has existed in all commodity
markets for a hundred years is suddenly the problem. Not Biden killing
XL, which sent a powerful message to the world oil markets. Not Biden
trying to kill another existing pipeline from Canada. Not Biden going
extreme left with his anti-oil BS. Not the decline in drilling permits.
Not the disruption from the Ukraine war and the sharp increase in
demand since the economy rebounded from Covid. And what have
the Democrats done about this? Has Biden called the oil industry to
DC, met with them and asked what they need done to expedite increasing
oil output as quickly as possible? Hell no, he, like you, just points
the finger at any lame excuse and does nothing.

Same thing with wheat, corn and Tbond futures for decades, funny how
there hasn't been this "problem" until now.

And for every entity on one side of these contracts, there is someone
on the other side taking the opposite position.

This is like saying that GM stock price isn't a reasonable market price
because the trading has increased. Makes no sense.

Sure, by selling into it, hedging their future prices, figuring that oil
will come back down again and if it doesn't they still locked in a
good price.

This is typical lib BS, attack the free markets, instead of getting together
with the oil industry in a positive fashion to see what they need to boost
output. Hell, if Biden was an obvious fumbling old man, maybe even
Saudia Arabia would take his call and increase oil output. They took calls
from Trump, that's for sure.

It was maybe a month ago I had our tank refilled and it was $4.95/gal.
I read main difference between heating oil and diesel is red dye added
to oil and about 48 cents tax on diesel. Since you have to have oil
delivered to your house that could put price on par. While maybe only
five percent heat with oil, majority (82%) are concentrated in north
east. Heat pumps here in northern DE are marginal and most use fossil
fuel. Someone said we will be shipping oil and natural gas to Europe
this fall due to the war in the Ukraine and all prices will go much higher.

You can thank the Jones Act for some of that.

https://transportationinstitute.org/5things/

https://www.cato.org/publications/policy-analysis/jones-act-burden-america-can-no-longer-bear#conclusion

Verging on tl;dr but the takeaway is summed up in a tweet on the side bar

Oh? "A 99-year-old law prevents foreign tankers from shipping gas within
the US...So consumers in New England relied on importing liquefied
natural gas from Trinidad and Tobago and even Russia to keep prices in
check this past winter."

Not many oil or gas tankers meet the Jones criteria.

As the article points out 'protecting the US maritime industry' is a
farce. My BIL, even back in the '80's, only worked 6 months a year. The
Masters, Mates, and Pilots union was trying to spread the little work
there was around. He had his master's license but I don't think he ever
sailed higher than second mate.

When I was in high school I was interested in the engineering side
rather than the deck crew. Luckily I didn't go into a dying industry..
