NYT is cheap but I only go there when somebody in here posts a link to
it.

Plenty of other sites ... including NASA and JPL.

Anyway, the Webb is delivering as promised. It can
see further into spacetime than the Hubble and the
IR bias gives it a much better view through clouds
of dust/gas. NICE pic of Neptune the other day -
in the IR the ring system shows up much better.

Creepy bit ... even seeing as far(back) as it can,
there are STILL big galaxies. Those weren't supposed
to be there. So - time for a NEW scope ... not just
one unit like Webb but maybe a dozen units held in
close alignment, synthetic aperture. They should look
into the submillimeter spectrum instead. That's more
"antennas" than "optics" and thus maybe a little cheaper.
That will 'see' even further/back. If there are STILL
galaxies then some significant re-thinking is going
to be required.

Smaller/denser universe - esp before the (supposed)
matter/antimatter burn - time would have run much
slower. How does that affect our *current* view ?
Webb and successors are not only looking "back in
time" but also "into slower time".
