The current situation in this newsgroup proves my conjecture,
expressed some years ago, that Usenet spammers behave like Stephen
King's langoliers\ --\ entities that devour Matter after Time
passes it and leaves behind. That is very irrational of them\ --\
spamming where no one is reading.

Even like he, Steve. Have you consulted the support groups
of the major free servers -- Eternal September and
AIOE -- about what they can do SPAM? I have had very posi-
tive experience with their administrators, who have always
reacted to my reports, and quickly too. Beware that the pub-
lic support groups are not the preferred channel for specif-
ic spam reports, and one is expected to send them in to des-
ignated e-mail addresses specified on the servers' web-
sites.

If you have a Google account, it may be useful to repoted
the offending post through their Google Groups interface to
Usenet...

I've been foinf that with Adam Bag's posts, as he has a gmail address,
and most of the regular spamers post from there. I've been marking his
posts as abuse, and perhaps you could do the same.

There is also the "Mary Monkey" poster, and the people who try to
hijack newsgroups and tell people that they are "dating sites". Nearly
all of them have gmail addresses, so report them to Google.

Yes, but this is the least efficient method.

Google seem to ignore such reports until they exceed a cer-
tain critical mass, at which point they simply block the
group from GG. To help people that access Usenet via proper
newsreaders, it is best to report spammers to news server
administrators. This works.
