So it looks like Elon is giving away check marks for free, to some famous people.
LilNas, Shatner, Sheen, LeBron, some others.
First, because the meaning of the blue check wasn’t already confusing enough.
And second, because NOBODY FAMOUS IS BUYING THEM, he needs to do this for some credibility.

But here’s the thing.
Anybody could buy a checkmark and then call themselves LIl NasX
(Where the i in Lil is actually a lower case L)
Or Lil Nas (without the X)
How you gonna know which one is the impostor now?
