when i came in from working out in the gardens.

warmed up some more bbq pork loin and then mixed in
with it some potato chips (we didn't have corn chips
or i'd have put those in instead). these particular
potato chips are thick and very hard and i really do
enjoy them when i eat them but i'm not really much of
a snack at night kind of person if i can help it. by
mixing them in it softens them up and turns them into
kind of like some kind of potato side with extra
grease and a little crunch and more salt.

all was good.

then i made some hot chocolate (from a mix, not very
good it needs more cocoa) and then washed the dishes
and am happily sprawled out here for the rest of the
night.

No wonder you live with Mom. Crumbling potato chips
into BBQ pork is a childlike thing to do.

I'm hazarding a guess you're talking about pulled pork. May I ask why
you mix potato chips or corn chips into it? Your description of turning
it into "some sort of potato side" doesn't compute.

a side mixed in. i'm not one of those people who has
to have things not touching on a plate to enjoy them.
i like stews, etc. and i'm not too picky about some
things where i'm going to quibble about what it looks
like.

it tasted good, it fed me, life went on. good times.

If it's mixed in, it's not a side. It's a condiment or garnish.

I don't much care but you also said if you'd had corn chips you'd have
mixed those in instead. In either case, it's not really a side dish.

Happy for you! I'd have used the chips as a scoup for the BBQ meat.
Maybe I'm the odd one?

Here in the deep South, we love our fried chicken - it's one of my signature dishes. I found 6 big thighs for 6 bucks. The breading I mixed up was flour, pepper, garlic powder, and chicken powder. I used chicken powder because it's mostly salt and MSG. You can't go wrong with salt and MSG. The chicken was a little strange because it included a lot of the surrounding skin. This was wrapped around the thigh while it was breaded resulting in a chicken completely wrapped in skin. The is great news for lovers of crispy chicken skin.

right, it's just a different perspective on what
that means. to me if i partially fill a bowl or
plate and then pile some chips on the side or on
top then i consider that a side. if i then later
mix them together as i'm eating them or a few
moments before eating them then i consider that
just a preference about texture or flavors or
perhaps i'm in a hurry and just want the meal
down my gullet.

in particular with those chips they are thick
and hard and it would take me a few moments longer
to eat the meal than if the chips soak up some of
the juice and soften.

:) last of the pork gone yesterday. i did
enjoy it. for about a week and a half? i did
eat other things too at times but that was the
main protein of my diet (peanuts, peanut butter
and cheese being the rest for that component).

not at all IMO. yesterday's last pork went on
well toasted and buttered homemade bread which
was the platform to get it from the bowl to my
mouth. i don't much like huge sandwiches so a
single layer of toast with stuff on it works a
lot better for me (open faced i guess is what
some people would think of it, but i'm not really
putting the toast down as i just cut it in half
and hold the piece of bread and put the pork on
that as i'm taking bites).

no matter what, it got the job done. :)

other components of the meal were some apples
with peanut butter and a few small tangerines.
now that we're heading into winter months i try
to up my citrus because we're not getting as much
fresh veggies and i need those vitamins.

Good deal. Basically snacking on chip & dip and fruit. Healthy, too.

Works for me!

Today was shopping day. I loaded up on bell peppers, mushrooms and
fresh fruits. I got a trip planned to Asian America for Gai Lan and
maybe mustard greens.

we love mushrooms. we're going to be making some
onion soup sometime and there's a large packages
of mushrooms in the fridge for that. so it's really
onion and mushroom soup...

i like about anything other than really strong fishy
and seaweed tastes but if someone else will cook it and
let me try it i'm at least game for the first bite.
now though there are those super hot peppers and i have
to amend my conditions because those would be too much
for me.

Sounds like a great sauce for pasta, especially if you have enough grated Mozzarella and Garlic bread.

Have you tried mixing mushroom types? Really adds a depth of flavor to
do that.
