I have a hard time telling the difference between a red finch and a
purple finch.

My guess would be House Finch. Seems to have too much striping on the
chest...

I rarely ever see a Purple Finch. But when I do... there is no doubt in
my mind that it's a Purple and not a House Finch. The difference is
that striking😉

The only time I was able to tell them apart was when I saw them
together. There was purple finch hanging out with a group of house
finch. After that, I was able to tell the difference between the two.
It's very subtle.
