They came around the same time as us, bought a far nicer house than we
could afford lol They have raised their children who are, like mine,
all hard workers and they (the parents) are now comfortably retired.

I made one mistake. There was a question about the Commonwealth. I
thought they meant England and its (former) colonies. But apparently
the term's also used for the collective of Australian states.

I don't think that anyone in their right mind hates immigrants just
because they are immigrants. We can't blame people for wanting to come
here for a better live, but I think we have to accept that things are
bad in some countries mainly because of their culture. I consider myself
fortunate to live in an area that has seen a lot of Dutch immigration.
Sure, some of them are super straight laced and extremely religious.
They sure as hell aren't a drain on our resources. You won't find them
sucking on the public teat. They are more likely to go out and get a
crappy job and work their way up and buy nice houses. Meanwhile, we
have other groups who seem to think dealing drugs is an admirable
profession and shooting people to protect their turf is a legitimate
cost of doing business.

I was an ESL tutor and classroom assistant, seeing these people gave me great joy, and it was very humbling... they came from Bhutan, Yemen, Haiti, Russia, Nigeria...

Many were UNHCR - sponsored, they arrived here after harrowing journeys. Despite this, they had great attitudes, harder - working people you would not find:

In France, civil servants are not allowed to wear any religious
symbols, and that includes Christian crucifixes and religious Muslim
paraphernalia. Total separation of religion and state.

You also won't hear cheesy texts like "God bless France" from the
French president. Unlike American presidents, he's also the president
of the atheists in his country.
