The US Navy is preparing for war in the Persian Gulf. The Iranians
just never learn

Twenty times in the past three years, Iranian forces have tried
to board foreign-flagged commercial vessels sailing through
the narrow Strait of Hormuz into or out of the Persian Gulf.
And twice in the span of just a couple weeks this spring,
they succeeded – seizing one vessel whose crew they accused
of colliding with an Iranian vessel, and another they claimed
was involved in a legal dispute in Iran..

There's a longer history to this - including some shooting
and killing. The article is worth reading. This stuff
generally doesn't make the global/US news - but it IS
happening.

But, to a point, I think the Iranians HAVE learned something.
They can, for cheap, cause the USA to spend huge money shifting
military assets around. Then they back off for awhile, the
forces re-deploy, and then they're back at it again. They
have also learned that the USA will only engage what's in
front of them - not larger Iranian facilities. In theory
the US could sink pretty much the entire Iranian navy and
wreck its ports in a single day. But it doesn't.
