I loved cutting the post for the dingleberry post. I tried
serval alternatives such as hanging from the front porch
(too high), bending 3/4" PVC over a charcoal fire (which I
nailed) but settled on this iron day bed back rail. I tried
every saw I had trying to lop that post down to size, and
finally resorted to this mother fucker:

For $2.07 delivered via Ex Next Day Air (two weeks ago), I
just had to try it. It made quick work of the pipe where the

pairs of glasses and a Darth Vadar mask)

There ain't much documentation about this kind of blade,
especially in a $19 circular saw at says not to use these
abrasive blades.

college. I did read about them in history books. We had no synagogue in
town.
Having said that, we were the most integrated town in Nevada at the
time I lived there. Jews may have just kept a low profile.

There were no Jews where I grew up. We were almost all WASPs. There were
no Asians or Blacks. Heck, there weren't even many Catholics. I never
met any Jews until I moved to a city in the middle of Gr 9 and ended up
in a high school where more than a quarter of the students were Jews.
They were basically secular Jews, the type who may or may not go to
Temple regularly but would go for weddings and funerals. They certainly
were not the strict orthodox types who dress in distinctive clothes and
keep to themselves.

Having been raised Anglican, we had been taught to respect Jews at the
chosen people, bit the Christ Killers that some people seem to think. We
all got along fine at school and socially. I was surprised to learn
that some people think that calling them Jews is a pejorative and think
the proper term is Jewish. I had discussed that with some of my Jewish
friends and they were all adamant that they were Jews not Jewish.

Integration is a two way street. In my case we went to the same school,
played on the same teams, socialized together and dated each other. In
bigger cities with bigger Jewish communities who get a lot more of of
the more orthodox Jews who dress distinctly and stick together. They
don't like to mingle with non Jews or even with less conservative Jews.

My particular suburb didn't seem to have many (or any). A couple
of suburbs over was where we went for corned beef and onion rolls.

Much different. I spent my first 26 years in Philadelphia. Had
assorted contact with Jews since probably a baby. A Jewish Deli had the
best ham, they would slice it on a machine in the back.

My father worked for a Jewish owned printing company, I worked for a
Jewish owned grocery store when I was in high school. When his wife
died, I even sat shiva with the family.

About 25% of the Philly population is Jewish. Some people disliked them
because they were Jews, but if you respected them, you were treated like
family.
