When I went to the store this morning, I noticed that my key fob seemed
sporadic. No big deal, my car needs service anyway. I'll do it then.
I knew that I already needed security system batteries, but I don't go
anywhere, anyway, so that's for later. Changing security system
batteries puts thoughts in my head that the cops may show up.
I pounded down a few beers for the second time since October 6th and went
to kick up the thermostat. The display was dead and the battery holder
had kicked out to indicate the fact. Thanks, Honeywell, and Enough!
I went on the net for the fob and found I had the batteries and the
expertise to change it (them, I changed my wife's).
I lack one battery for the back door security opener, but it's not dead
yet, and Amazon's on the way.
When I was a kid, I was pretty sure that nobody would need batteries in
the future. I was wrong.

[ObFood] It's getting real late and nothing so far. :)

Yep, everthing "in the future" would be atomic - powered, so no batteries needed...

At least the "TV screens so THIN you can hang it on a WALL...!!!", as seen on "The Jetsons", came to pass... also "Picturephones"...

Good luck with the batteries, My Good Man...!!!

many devices these days have batteries installed, if
they are locks or security devices that adds a layer (or
more) of complication.

change is hard, plus well, what happens when someone
drives an EV into the ocean?

many years ago (before EVs) a friend may have committed
suicide by driving his car into the ocean - power windows
and power locks may not work all that great when the
whole car's electrical system is shorted out. we think he
got an HIV+ diagnosis... :(
