The Nor'easter we are having up here is a doozy.
Wind gusts approaching 90 MPH and soaking rain.
Power is out just about everywhere in eastern/coastal
parts of the state.

Makes that Hurricane/Tropical storm last October look
like a spring shower.

Gonna be in it for a while longer.

Forgot to mention .... I have to give Comcast some credit.
Power has been out since 4:30 AM. Lines are down everywhere but we
still have cable and Internet service (assuming you have a generator).

I saw some reports on the news and it wasn't pretty - a lot of big trees

We survived but Mrs.E's car didn't. Big branch from a mighty oak
tree broke off and went through the rear window, smashing it to
smithereens.

We survived (except for the rear window of Mrs.E's car).

Been through many Nor-esters but this one was particularly
strong, wind-wise. More like a Cat 1 hurricane.

Glad you guys are OK. We had a tornado watch here yesterday but
all we got was strong winds and heavy rain.

Glad you came out well. We survived the near same thing last week.
Probably 6” of rain here. We normally only get about 22” a year. Quite a
few trees down. One up the street, but looked pretty rotten inside. They
were repaving my street, so that delayed it a couple days.

Folks on the Chesapeake are flooded with a surge tide about 4-5 feet
above normal high tide. My niece's marina store has a foot or more of
water in it. Fortunately they know better and everything is "up". All
of the docks are under water.

Maybe we are just getting old. I remember water flowing 2 feet deep
across my street during Agnes in the 70s. It never did that before or
after. I know it surprised the hell out of the 2 families who had
their homes flooded. They were nowhere near any water they thought
could get to them.

It's not just storms. There has also been huge melting of glacial ice with more on the way. The photographic evidence is overwhelming. One of the more "interesting" things that may happen as a result, is a greatly diminished Gulf Stream current flow. That would have huge implications for north western Europe.

That could mean another ice age for the Maratimes.

A lot of those melting glaciers were formed in the mini ice age 1800’s.
When we were in Seward Alaska 15 years ago, the glacier there has stakes
denoting the retreat of the glacier. Biggest retreat was about 1915-1920.
Why then? Admittedly mankind has added to the warming, but blaming it on
mankind and fossil fuels, is rather ignorant! What happened tot he global
cooling that all the “scientists “ jumped on in the 1970’s? Odd, how all
those Phd people who signed on to the global warming petition a few years,
very few had actual hard science degrees.
