These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2011-06-13,
and should be interpreted accordingly. All questions were written
by members of the Misplaced Modifiers, but have been reformatted
and may have been retyped and/or edited by me. I will reveal the
correct answers in about 3 days.

For further information, including an explanation of the """ notation
that may appear in these rounds, see my 2021-07-20 companion posting
on "Reposted Questions from the Canadian Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

** Game 5, Round 9 - Entertainment - Musician Cameos

Here are 10 movies in which musicians play themselves, sometimes
speaking, sometimes playing. In the questions #1-5, you will
*name the band or musician*.

1. The movie is "The Wedding Singer". In the first-class section of
an airliner, this 1980s musician doesn't give his trademark
sneer; instead, he listens sympathetically to Adam Sandler's
character Robbie Hart, and rouses the other passengers to
support Hart in his bid to win back his love.

2. In "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", Pee Wee's search for his bicycle
leads him through a Hollywood back lot, where this 1980s metal
band is shooting a video. Lead singer Dee Snider is not amused.

3. In "I Love You, Man", Paul Rudd's character makes his first male
friend, played by Jason Segal. They spend time together jamming
to this Canadian band, and finally end up at their concert,
"slappin' the air bass" together.

4. In "High Fidelity", John Cusack's character Rob Gordon tries
to figure out what to do about his top 5 former girlfriends.
This American rocker appears in Rob's bedroom, jamming on
his guitar, and advises Rob to call them up and say one final
goodbye.

5. In "The Simpsons Movie", members of this pseudo-punk band give
a long show, followed by an audience revolt when the band
proposes an environmental discussion. The band members are
killed when pollution in a lake dissolves their floating barge.

And for questions #6-10, *name the movie*.

6. David Bowie adjudicates a "walk-off" -- a competition between
two runway models -- in this 2001 comedy.

7. Otis Day and the Knights play their signature song "Shout"
in this 1978 comedy.

8. In this 1997 comedy, Burt Bacharach plays "What the World
Needs Now is Love Sweet Love" on a piano sitting on the roof
of a limousine traveling through the streets of Las Vegas.

9. In this 2004 movie, Chris Martin and Jon Buckland of the band
Coldplay appear on TV in support of "Zombaid", a charity to
help zombies who were damaged when the Coldplay song "Clocks",
played in continuous loop, was used as a weapon.

10. Tom Petty appears as a future version of himself, running a
town called "Bridge City", in the post-apocalyptic world depicted
in this 1997 drama.
