No one does "cancel culture" quite like the fascists:
| ...
| Rand and her associates helped design a "film regime" that
| dissected other post-war movies like William Wyler's The
| Best Years of Our Lives and George Cukor's Keeper of the
| Flame. These McCarthy-era film critics sought to root out
| "ideological termites" in the industry; they were
| especially distrustful of movies that elevated what Rand
| called, with contempt, "the little man." One of the films
| identified as particularly pernicious to the "rock" of
| Americanism was Frank Capra's classic It's a Wonderful
| Life, a movie that today seems built on bedrock U.S.
| nationalist values--commitment to family, redemption
| through faith, contentment with modest small-town living....
| ...
| But in the FBI's analysis--and possibly Rand's, though it's
| not clear how much, if any, of the report she authored
| directly--the tale of George Bailey manifested several
| subversive tendencies. Flavorwire sums up the charges
| succinctly: "Written by Communist sympathizers,"
| "Attempting to instigate class warfare," and "Demonizing
| bankers."

Kind of like modern Jews are doing. They always had war on Christmas.

<https://www.adl.org/guidance-displays-december-holidays>

“Acknowledging the December holiday season is important in many public
schools and communities. However, religious displays on public property –
whether physical or virtual spaces - can be deeply divisive, making members
of religious minority groups feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It’s
important to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of all members of our
religiously diverse society.”

No Christmas for you, goyim.

Those once *were* bedrock U.S. nationalist values, but no longer to
Republiscums/QAnon.

Bankers like Henry Potter have been demonized since long before Capra's movie
was produced. Potter is a caricature of a banker, of course, and most people
never encounter a banker like Potter, but the movie broke no new ground.

Because the First is religion neutral not religion hostile. When
the display space is open to all belief system, the First is
satified. Passerbys are free to look and not look.

A classic movie plot of the silent era was the greedy banker foreclosing on the poor
widow. Bonnie and Clyde, the James Gang and many others were pop culture heroes because
they preyed on banks.

I admire Rand's willingness to fly her freak flag and challenge
complacency. Being batshit insane is still good if it makes people
around you think they might be giants.

Depends on what you mean by "new".

The film "humanized" bankers ... a species that
had been viewed almost as evil aliens since the
Depression. Capra's banker IS human, DOES care -
but note he also EXPLAINS "banking" - that his
bank does not contain everyone's bag of cash
to the dollar in the vault - but is lent to others.
I think a lot of people in 1929 did not understand
that.

As for Rand ... she was a species of fanatic. Not
as bad as they get, but bad enough. Her vision
was of a "servant" underclass with as few extra
dollars in their pockets as possible - so they
could always be controlled. Some call this a
"Libertarian" viewpoint ... but that's not quite
correct.
