state after the war, underscoring the deep divisions between
the close allies three months into Israel’s war against Hamas.
In Gaza, Israeli forces moved deeper into the southern city
of Khan Younis, pounding areas near the largest hospital
still functioning in the enclave.

I also don't think a "two state solution" would be a real
solution. The previous arrangement clearly was not a
solution either. Alas there are limited alternatives.

The Palestinians are on a jihad to expel/destroy the Jews
and no matter the territorial arrangement there will be
increasing, maybe escalating, attacks against Israel.
Israeli's don't like the Palestinians either, say their
god gave them the deed to all the land in the area. This
means eternal trouble.

Netanyahu has chosen this moment to seriously degrade
Gaza/Hamas. It has become a very bad scene, the word
"genocide" is being thrown around though that's not
really the intent. Hamas thinks hiding amongst children
will protect them from Israel, but that isn't working
this time. It's become a *mean* war ... none of the
olde-tyme niceties. Both sides "started it" and neither
can finish it.

Which leaves us with a bloody mess and far less regional
stability for a long time to come. I do not expect the
situation to improve ; it will be repeats over and over
all this century until something really extreme changes
the old equation.
