Needing an agent noun for "startup" (as in "startup business"), one of
my clients came up with "upstart". I chuckled as I explained what that
meant. However it does raise an interesting question: What *is* a good
agent noun for "startup"? It's very easy to derive one in Turkish but
in English "Starter-upper" is the closest I can get and that's clearly
unacceptable. "Upstarter" and "Startupper" won't do either.

Technically, it should be `starter-up'. Why not
`startup-er' or `startuper' with a single `p' to avoid mis-
association with the comparative adjective `upper'? Are two
words acceptable, such as startup undertaker or enterpriser?

if you do Net-searches, you'll find that Startupper is common
(so is "Starter-upper" )
