These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2012-04-09,
and should be interpreted accordingly. All questions were written
by members of Footloose and Firkin Free, but have been reformatted
and may have been retyped and/or edited by me. I will reveal the
correct answers in about 3 days.

For further information, including an explanation of the """ notation
that may appear in these rounds, see my 2021-07-20 companion posting
on "Reposted Questions from the Canadian Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

** Final, Round 7 - Entertainment

* Old School Cartoon Characters

In each case, give the character's name in the form typically used.

1. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/1.jpg
2. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/2.jpg
3. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/3.jpg

* Freckled Actresses

In each case, name the actress.

4. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/4.jpg
5. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/5.jpg
6. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/6.jpg

* Movie and TV Kisses

7. Allegedly, what was notable about a kiss between Jane Wyman
and Regis Toomey in the 1941 movie "You're in the Army Now"?

8. Name the US TV show which famously showed an interracial kiss in 1968.

9. On the 1994-03-01, broadcast of this situation comedy,
guest star Mariel Hemingway kisses the female series star
on the mouth. The scene takes place in a gay bar, and
Hemingway portrays a lesbian stripper whose kiss causes the
star to question her own sensibilities. What sitcom?

* Movie Weddings

In each case, name the movie.

10. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/10.jpg
11. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/11.jpg
12. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/12.jpg

* Muppet Characters

Again, name the character.

13. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/13.jpg
14. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/14.jpg
15. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/15.jpg

** Final, Round 8 - Sports

This round included a sports current-events triple, which I'm
omitting here, so you only get 12 questions.

* Canadian Basketball Players

In each case, name the player.

1. A high school star for St. Michaels, this Torontonian went
on to a successful college career at Syracuse before being
drafted in the first round of the 1983 NBA draft by the
Philadelphia 76ers. He coached the Canadian national team
from 2005 to 2011.

2. After a successful college career at Simon Fraser, he
captained the Canadian national team 1981-88. He led the
Canadian team that won gold at the 1983 World University Games
in Edmonton, Alberta. He has been a head coach in the NBA,
and is now head of pro scouting for the Raptors.

3. A high school star for Eastern Commerce, this Torontonian
went on to a successful college career at Kentucky before
being drafted in the first round of the 2000 NBA draft by
Charlotte Hornets. In 2011 he signed with the Raptors,
the first Canadian-born player to suit up with them.

* North American Ski Resorts

On each question will we name three ski resorts located in the
same US state or Canadian province, and you must name that state
or province.

4. Big White, Sun Peaks, Blackcomb Mountain.
5. Mammoth Mountain, Squaw Valley, Heavenly Valley.
6. Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Telluride.

* Rugby Nicknames

In each case, we name a country and you give us the nickname of
its national rugby team. For example, if we said New Zealand,
you would answer "All Blacks".

7. Australia.
8. France.
9. South Africa.

* CFL Record Holders

10. Name the former Winnipeg Blue Bomber player who """holds""" CFL
career records for yards receiving and touchdown catches.

11. Name the Montreal Alouettes quarterback who """holds""" the CFL
career record for most yards passing.

12. Name the Montreal Alouettes running back who """holds""" the
career CFL record for most yards rushing.

> ** Final, Round 7 - Entertainment

In the original game, this is the round that was tied with
Round 2 (Arts & Literature) for being the second-easiest
(after Current Events).

> * Old School Cartoon Characters

> In each case, give the character's name in the form typically used.

> 1. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/1.jpg

Baba Looey. 4 for Joshua and Stephen.

Speedy Gonzalez was guessed. He's a mouse, not a donkey:
http://images.wikia.com/ideas/images/9/92/Speedy_Gonzalez.png

> 2. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/2.jpg

Snagglepuss. 4 for everyone -- Joshua, Stephen, and Dan.

> 3. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/toon/3.jpg

Auggie Doggie. 4 for Joshua and Stephen.

> * Freckled Actresses

> In each case, name the actress.

> 4. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/4.jpg

Megan Fox. 4 for Stephen.

Probably best known for the "Transformers" series.

> 5. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/5.jpg

Emma Watson. 4 for Stephen.

Best known, of course, as Harry Potter's brainy friend Hermione
Granger.

> 6. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/freckle/6.jpg

Julianne Moore. 4 for Joshua and Stephen.

Oscar-winner for "Still Alice" (2014); also nominated for "Boogie
Nights" (1997), "The End of the Affair" (1999), "The Hours" (2002),
and "Far from Heaven" (also 2002).

> * Movie and TV Kisses

> 7. Allegedly, what was notable about a kiss between Jane Wyman
> and Regis Toomey in the 1941 movie "You're in the Army Now"?

It was supposedly the longest kiss in movie history at over 3 minutes.
4 for Joshua and Stephen.

The claim is debunked here:
http://www.filmsite.org/filmkisses6.html

> 8. Name the US TV show which famously showed an interracial kiss in 1968.

"Star Trek". 4 for everyone.

See the Wikipedia article on "Kirk and Uhura's kiss".

"Roseanne". 4 for Joshua and Stephen.

> * Movie Weddings

> In each case, name the movie.

> 10. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/10.jpg

"The Princess Bride". 4 for Stephen and Dan.

As one entrant in 2013 noted, these two don't actually marry in
the movie. But they are bonded by true love, and he saves her from
the unwanted marriage that she's dressed for in the photo.

> 11. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/11.jpg

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding". 4 for Joshua and Stephen.

> 12. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/wedding/12.jpg

"Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones". 4 for Stephen.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" was the subtitle of a later animated
movie and TV series. I scored "Star Wars Episode II: The Clone
Wars" as almost correct. "Star Wars" was the wrong movie; it was
the original movie in the series and does not include a wedding.

> * Muppet Characters

> Again, name the character.

> 13. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/13.jpg

Oscar the Grouch. "Oscar" was sufficient. 4 for everyone.

OSCAR THE GROUCH was a puzzle solution on "Wheel of Fortune"
one week ago, on 2022-04-11.

> 14. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/14.jpg

Count von Count. "The Count" was sufficient. 4 for Joshua, Stephen
(the hard way), and Dan.

> 15. http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/fi-07/muppet/15.jpg

Animal. 4 for everyone.

> ** Final, Round 8 - Sports

> This round included a sports current-events triple, which I'm
> omitting here, so you only get 12 questions.

> * Canadian Basketball Players

> In each case, name the player.

> 1. A high school star for St. Michaels, this Torontonian went
> on to a successful college career at Syracuse before being
> drafted in the first round of the 1983 NBA draft by the
> Philadelphia 76ers. He coached the Canadian national team
> from 2005 to 2011.

Leo Rautins.

Jay Triano.

Jamaal Magloire.

> * North American Ski Resorts

> On each question will we name three ski resorts located in the
> same US state or Canadian province, and you must name that state
> or province.

> 4. Big White, Sun Peaks, Blackcomb Mountain.

British Columbia. 4 for Dan. 2 for Joshua.

> 5. Mammoth Mountain, Squaw Valley, Heavenly Valley.

California. 4 for Joshua and Dan.

> 6. Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Telluride.

Colorado. 4 for Joshua and Dan.

> * Rugby Nicknames

> In each case, we name a country and you give us the nickname of
> its national rugby team. For example, if we said New Zealand,
> you would answer "All Blacks".

> 7. Australia.

Wallabies.

> 8. France.

Bleus or Tricouleurs.

> 9. South Africa.

Springboks. 4 for Joshua.

> * CFL Record Holders

> 10. Name the former Winnipeg Blue Bomber player who """holds""" CFL
> career records for yards receiving and touchdown catches.

Milt Steagall. Still true for the second record, but the other one
now belonges to Geroy Simon (also a former Blue Bomber, through he
mostly played for the BC Lions). Accepting either.

> 11. Name the Montreal Alouettes quarterback who """holds""" the CFL
> career record for most yards passing.

Anthony Calvillo. (Still true.)

> 12. Name the Montreal Alouettes running back who """holds""" the
> career CFL record for most yards rushing.

Mike Pringle. (Still true.)

Scores, if there are no errors:
