repression towards Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, evicting them

The state of Israel is based on the idea that people should have a
homeland for their ethnicity/nation. The idea was created when this
was considered acceptable. Since WWII, and especially since 1948, the
idea that a state exists "for a people" has been discarded by the
West, yet Israel has not caught up. Oddly, the Western countries and
people backing Israel don't seem to have any desire to bring Israel to
the late 20th century and truly become a pluralistic, modern state.
We still hear how it is a homeland for Jews, a place where they
shouldn't be expected to become a minority, etc, etc, ideas which are
unacceptable if uttered in the Anglosphere and Europe. In many ways,
ESPECIALLY since October 7, its become very obvious that Israel is
influenced by some very old values and morals which we left behind a
long time ago, Old Testament morality.

I feel a modernisation here is required, and the attitudes need to be
shifted in that part of the world to a more "modern" one. If Western
leaders are going to support Zionism, then they are hypocrites if they
attack people in their own nation for wanting their nation to remain a
homeland for their ethnicity.

As Israel relies on Western support, namely the US, the US has
leverage here and can push for an adjustment of attitudes, and an
acceptence of living as part of a secular, pluralistic state. There
have been many Jews who have championed this idea in the West, so its
not as if this idea isn't already part of their community.

I'm not going to put forward a specific moral judgement on the idea of
a national "homeland", but there is a glaring hypocrisy. By the Wests
OWN standards, either Israel is in the wrong for being a "Jewish"
state, or, the anti-semites who point out the hypocrisy have a point.
