Like many other retirees living on a fixed income, I'm always on the lookout for stocks that pay a good solid dividend, better still if they offer some protection against inflation and/or rising interest rates. Here are some of my favorites that I've owned for a long time:

STWD - Starwood Property Trust, currently yielding a juicy 7.8% very consistently. STWD makes their money primarily by financing various high end real estate deals, and sometimes takes an ownership position in those deals. The interest on the money they lend out is usually variable and tied to various indicators of overall interest rates. This means that if interest rates go up, as they tend to do in an inflationary environment, STWD's income goes up also. As an additional benefit, inflation adds to both the value of their loan collateral, but also to the value of the properties that they own.

CVX and XOM - Chevron and Exxon, both yielding more than 4%, and their stock prices are on the rise. Neither company is exactly a secret but both are well positioned to profit from inflation and global political unrest, and you collect a nice dividend at the same time. I've owned both for over 20 years and have done very well with them.

I have had XOM for a while. It is beer money anyway. IBM pays a fair
dividend even tho it is not really moving in the market. All of my
shares are pretty much zero basis so it is easy money.
I am still holding on to the SWKS you told me about. Not a huge
dividend but it is moving.

My best one may be my partnership in Ichan. I am not sure what the
cash value is but they send me a nice check every quarter. I think I
gave them ten grand around 1978 (3 companies ago) and it has been good
ever since. I get around $2500 a year. Until 86, the tax write off
alone was significant, saving me my $10k a couple times over. Most of
that went away. It was just dead weight for a while and now "Ichan"
generates cash. I am OK with that. When Carl bought it he tried to
buy me out cheap. I am glad I didn't sell.

Not much though. We recently bought Kanadian drugs at a fraction
of USA prices.

Sorry Justine, we don't submit to mob rule as all y'all do south of the border.
FYI...the vast majority of truck drivers are vaccinated up here and the Truckers Federation does not agree with the rabble infesting the Parliament area of Ottawa.
They are mostly a motley collection of anti vaxers and other agitators and abeters looking for any reason to do what they do best.

And, who is the 'motley collection', the truckers or the rabble in the
Parliament?

Lastly, was this you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4RjsAyFvLU
