Why, those movies were meant for the entertainment of
teenagers. What would you expect. How, on the other hand,
do you rate the level of English in "The VVitch", or "Chimes
of Midnight"?

Never watched them.

I was wondering whether Dumbledore was speaking like old Englishman.

BTW: is Usenet filtering words like "VVitch"?

That is the problem. Everybody watches the same artless
stuff. Substitute magic wands for pistols -- and you get a
masterpiece of low fantasy. Having read no Potter books, I
am talking about the movies

> I was wondering whether Dumbledore was speaking like old
> Englishman.

The only one I watched was in Russian dubbing, so I cannot
tell. This being a text medium, why don't you write out
some of your favourite Doumbledore lines right here?

> BTW: is Usenet filtering words like "VVitch"?

In my understanding, Unsenet is not an active agent that can
really *do* something. What do you mean by "filtering"? As
far as I know, it is the capitalists that are interested in
filtering and data-scientific analysis -- to optimise
advertisement and monitor and manipulate the public opinion.
They can be analysing Usenet as they do proprietary and
centralised social media.

Not long ago on a train I sat opposite a pair of young
people reviewing the statistics of their website or social
page on an iPad. They were interested in the amount clicks,
time spent on the page, the reasons why so many visitors
came and left immediately, and so on, overlooking the only
important thing: the inherent quality of their content
independently of anybody's opinion about it. As Anton
Chekhov rightly said, "I am not a century note to be liked
by everybody." But my couple aspired to become exactly
that -- a dirty old prostitutional century note. They were
interested in psychological subconscious tricks and
manipulations to have more visitors, more viewes, &c.

pls remember that what we NOW think of as [authentic-sounding Shakespeare]
(Olivier, Gielgud ... ) isn't at all like how they sounded in Shakespeare's time.

just like this line [He chose poorly.]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIitjokEJwg
i'd think that everything in Harry Potter is done for Effect.

Go to alt.mythology, try posting a message with the word "VVitch"! Not
sure whether it's universal. :)

Sorry, my brain is not very good at remembering movie quotes... :)

I was talking about the way Mr. DumbleDore and other professors spoke in
the movie.

Probaby slightly above the elvel of the average schoolkid, since they
are based on the books which were written by an adult, and so her
dialogue was probably at the level of better-educated schoolkids.
