Has anyone paid someone who lives in London to visit the British Library for them, to view documents/manuscripts? Or is there someone here who regularly visits the library who might be willing to look at a couple of things for me (not conduct research...just read/copy). Any tips appreciated as I live in United States. Thank you!

Some of their manuscripts have been digitised and can be viewed online.
I have looked at a few.

Vance, thank you so much. And just learned yesterday that the library has digitisation services for a fee; they do the process on items you want to view and send the files via email. I'm awaiting word now on how much my request will cost. After I'd done that, I heard back from a customer service rep who sent me this link to a list of researchers the library maintains:

Bear in mind that The British Library and The National Archives are different institutions and in slightly different locations. The former is close to St Pancras railway station, the latter somewhat further out in Kew (where the Royal Botanic Gardens are also). Probably a researcher list provided by TNA would apply to both, but you may find that some researchers are pretty much based in Kew and wouldn't fancy the extra rail link to the Euston area.

Chris, this sounds like very wise advice. Thank you. I actually visited the library while in London about three years ago, and was in a rush that particular day...It took so long to get my reader card that I wasn't able to look at any materials! I'll be ready next time I'm there in person. Thanks again.
