you are paying, you get the insurance company price plus at most 10%.

There is certainly a big discount when you say you are "self pay".
The last year we were stuck with Obamacare, the $6500 deductible and
disallowing lots of stuff that should have gone toward that
deductible, we just went on self pay and said we didn't have any
insurance.
