For both of you are birds of selfsame feather. --- King Henry VI, part III: III, iii

BASSANIO:
In my school-days, when I had lost one shaft,
I shot his fellow of the self-same flight
The self-same way with more advised watch,
To find the other forth, and by adventuring both
I oft found both: I urge this childhood proof,
Because what follows is pure innocence.

Weird! = seltsam
Which word now has a nonce meaning as well, as in _The WEIRDEST people in the World_ a very interesting book on psychology, economics, sociology, cultural change, etc., even possible change in human nature. It's an acronym from Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic. This European cultural complex all took off between 1054 and 1075. The author makes a very interesting and strong case for his thesis:

p.s. seltsam is related to selten (seldom, rare) but not self-same

Was Paganini a pagan? He could play the violin like the devil himself,
rising amidst tombstones in a graveyard.
I'm constantly reminded of Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre;

Perhaps Julian the Apostate emperor of old Rome could hear the same
music from his future, played on instruments that he never knew about.
