I'm looking for a single word in the English language that describes,
either as a verb, or by an adjective, the following reaction from
someone who's observing a crime being committed. He is addressing the
victim. And the crime is that a burglar is stabbing the victim inside
his bedroom:

"I don't understand the fuss you make. You are just experiencing the
effect of the ability of a sharp object penetrating body-material.
That's all! What else did you think is happening?"

This technique is often used in news media and by the politicians. But I
don't know the English word for it. Any help?

Is there a _single_ word corresponding to that description in any
language you know?

Really? Some examples from real life, please?

That was sort of evident from the message: "came up with it".

The word is "canceling." It is a very often used form of canceling the
victims' concerns.

What a bunch of idiots guys here must be in this language forum. Some of
them well-known idiots too. Bye :)

Citation needed. I've never encountered this use of the word.

Nor I. Social Media has given rise to "cancel culture", though. Not
the same thing, but I can see a distant similarity.

The problem I have with applying any straightforward terms
is that the situation described is ridiculously extreme.

For this, I think I'd go with something more like deadpan humor.

I note that Physfitfreak appeared out of nowhere, posed a question, gave
an answer a little later, and then disappeared. That to me suggests
someone who is trying to get a new meaning of "cancel" adopted to
further some political agenda. We weren't offered any real-life example
of the "often used" technique.

It is possible that this special meaning exists in some insider group.
Perhaps one of the groups who are trying to convince us that genuine
news reports are "fake news".

In this case, it's more like "hanging in free air between one person's ears"

Interesting...
In the way I intended that phrase, your version wouldn't be 'a pair'.
Two ears - yes.
A pair of ears - no.

I haven't either.

The closest I can find is the original sense of 'apathy', "/Freedom
from, or insensibility to, suffering/; hence, freedom from, or
insensibility to, passion or feeling; passionless existence" (my
emphasis) - OED, 1603 onwards.

I remain unenthused, though, since the later sense of "indolence of
mind" (1742 onwards) has come to dominate. I suppose one could write the
word a-pathy and pronounce it ape'athy....

I once worked with someone who had large plugs in both earlobes - plus a
good many other piercings and associated adornments (those normally
visible, and otherwise).
I took great care to _not_ enquire about these - nor be in earshot (sic)
if the topic seemed to be about to be aired.

I didn't enquire either, and I took care to pretend that I wasn't
affected by the sight which I was.
