In the 70s and 80s, developers were slapping up big
condos in Florida practically overnight. The inspectors
would sign-off with their right hand, while pocketing
their nice fat unmarked envelope with with the left.
Business as usual - everywhere.

Crappy construction, inadequate foundations, steel
exposed to the salty ocean spray. So, guess what
happens ?

The condo of interest is hardly alone. Indeed it was
one of THREE built by the same people at the same
time in the same immediate area.

Do you live there ? MOVE ! FAST ! REALLY FAST !

And sue the living shit out of everyone and everything
involved in building your ex-castle.

Those units started at $500,000 and went up sharply
from there. You can afford good lawyers.

Apparently the whole building had been SINKING since
the 90s. The builders basically poured concrete over
sugary beach sand and then buiit a 12-floor monstrosity
on top of that. Yes, the sand WAS going to subside
under the load - but, so long as you get your money in
the bank, like, who cares ? Any issues are for The Future.

Well, The Future looks like a mini-WTC - umpteen layers
of concrete with bodies, LOTS of bodies, squished between.
This may be the first, but it likely will not be the last.
