I don't like the drowning thought. That seems really cruel. I had one I trapped that almost seemed tame. He took a hot dog right from my hand. Many give you the puppy dog eyes, in the hopes that they will fool you into thinking you can get your hand close, so they can try and rip it to shreds. I have never seen them as vicious as you describe and I have trapped over 50 of them. Maybe they knew you were going to do horrible things to them.
