What's [plu-] in the word [ plupefect ] ?

The word "pluperfect" comes from the Latin word "pluperfectum," which means "more than perfect." The "plu" part of the word comes from the Latin word "plus," which means "more." The "perfect" part of the word comes from the Latin word "perfectum," which means "complete."

In English, the word "pluperfect" is used to describe a verb tense that expresses an action that had already happened before another action in the past. For example, the sentence "I had already eaten before I went to the party" uses the pluperfect tense to describe the action of eating as having happened before the action of going to the party.

The "plu" in the word "pluperfect" is a remnant of the Latin word "pluperfectum," and it serves as a reminder that the pluperfect tense is a tense that describes an action that had already happened before another action in the past.

------------ so PLU is like PLUS , as in

Ne plus ultra
