Please don't put rat poison out because cats could get it. Please don't harm cats. As far as coons I can understand resorting to poison, but some poisons do not kill them because coons are so darn tough. I you cover the back of the trap with limbs, tarps, or other stuff, they will go in the trap instead of fishing the food out from the side. I have caught and relocated over 50 of them, so I know it can be done. Sure there might be some nights you don't catch one, but you will. If you don't want to catch cats, then use marshmallows to set the trap. Coons love them. Eventually, I got tired of trapping these and resorted to other measures. I am still having problems with them.
