There are many lessons to be learned from the US response to the pandemic.
House Democrats are not interested in studying them.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released a deeply
partisan report last month demonizing doctors who allegedly advocate “a
dangerous and discredited herd immunity through mass infection strategy.”
The report was aimed at the Trump administration’s adoption of the Great
Barrington Declaration of October 2020, in which epidemiologists Martin
Kulldorff (Harvard), Sunetra Gupta (Oxford) and Jay Bhattacharya
(Stanford) advocated protecting the elderly and vulnerable protect while
reopening schools and businesses. This was not a strategy to intentionally
infect masses of people. The goal was to minimize deaths and social and
economic damage until the country achieved herd immunity through infection
or vaccination.

Great Barrington’s strategy of “focused protection” helped minimize the
collateral damage of the pandemic until vaccines became available. The
Biden administration then pursued a strategy of herd immunity through
vaccination. But when that strategy failed, it doubled down on vaccine
mandates.
