I've been looking at a wiki article on the 'emperor' Magnus Maximus:

My interest is purely an historical one, rather than genealogical, but I hadn't previously realised how important he is in British/Breton legend.

I'd be interested in any insights you may have (or have had in previous threads), and apologise for the vagueness of this post. I'm searching for something, but not quite sure what!

We have to remember that the Pillar of Eliseq was inscribed four hundred years afterwards.
So not a good source for the existence of some daughter called Severa

Yes, the genealogical linkage isn't going to work. I'm more interested in why or how or whether his name became associated with these later legends.
