He has descents from Henry II through Audrey Barlow Almy and Elizabeth Wood Barcroft. (Ancestry of American Presidents, 2009 edition)

Well, yes, but the line runs through successive monarchs to Edward III, so that would be the relevant king in discussing this royal descent.

The site that presents the supposed royal descent for William Strother,
who died by 1702, also states:

"It is often claimed that William Strother was the son of William and Elizabeth Strother and grandson of Lancelot Strother and Eleanor Conyers. Eleanor Conyers is a direct descendant of Edward III, King of England. However more evidence is needed to substantiate the claim."
