https://qz.com/2008917/mcdonalds-is-bumping-up-pay-as-low-wage-workers-have-options/

As it looks to hire 10,000 new US employees over the next few months,
the fast-food chain announced today it is raising the hourly wages for
more than 36,500 employees at its company-owned restaurants by an
average of 10%. Entry-level workers will earn between $11 to $17 an
hour, and shift managers will earn between $15 to $20 an hour,
depending on location.

The company says it expects average hourly wages to reach $15 an hour
by 2024. McDonald’s owns just about 5% of its 13,900 US restaurants;
the rest are operated by franchises who set their own pay and benefits
at their stores.

Does this mean the milk-shake and ice-cream machines will be operating
more consistently?

Does this mean orders will be more accurate and brought to you faster?

Don't hold your breath.

With that kind of hiring prediction, even Jenny could get a job.
For a few hours at least. He will, as always, find a way to get fired.

It seems the ice cream machine is a pain to clean, so places just
claim it's broken.
I haven't eaten McDonald's in years. But I don't recall too many
errors in my orders. It did seem to take longer to get my food that I
felt it should have.

That is my understanding as well. I wonder why other fast food chains
don't seem to have this problem. I've encountered it more at McDonalds
than any other place.

It could be my imagination. Although, McDonald's is the only place I'm
aware of that has a website dedicated to the problem.

https://mcbroken.com/

One explanation:
Former McDonalds on shift manager in charge of cleaning said machine.
This machine is incredibly hard to keep up and running if you have no
idea what you are doing. It turns off automatically around 11 pm. It
turns back on in the morning about 4 am. From that time it is
absolutely impossible to get ice cream out because from 11-4 it heats
up the mixture to keep it from spoiling. This "locks up" the machine.

Now on to cleaning. Once a month it will turn off for it to be
cleaned. You cannot get ice cream out once this happens. Then someone
must completely take it apart to clean it. If it is put back together
improperly or not clean enough it will shut off after about an hour
and you must clean it again. Most people have no idea what they are
doing most of the time. If people don't do all of this correctly
people don't get ice cream and it sucks....

If you have about a half hour to spare, here's a guy who
investigated the problem.
