The trade war started in 2018 by the U.S. against China. Now at the end of 2021, judging from the various signs in both countries, is China considered to have won?
A trade war is always a two-edged sword. Trump’s trade war was asinine—I still believe that he did not mean to start it, but fell into it while supporting the campaign of Rick Saccone in PA, raising the specter of steel tariffs against China—but China was not the culprit. Being never wrong and the man who knew everything, a genius, he snowballed it into a full trade war with China. The Chinese are hurting with the billions and billions in tariffs they are paying, he claimed. What a farce.

Biden had a chance to rollback Trump on the China trade tariffs, climate and Iran upon taking office—all he had to do was declare a restore and reboot, but he didn’t—he tried to be clever and political—and he ended up jumping upon the Trump bandwagon and is unable to get off, like riding tiger, as the Chinese say.

Biden took Trump’s anti-Shina scapegoating and made it into a real fetish—he’s got China on his mind, every minute, every day and every way. Let me tell you about China, he and his say, whenever they can find an audience—even if the audience yawns and mehs. Not asking you to chose sides, Blinken says; hmm, sounds like Nikki Haley saying, we’re going to take names.

Now, rather than concede loss and taking the initiative to end the trade war with China, Biden added fuel to the fire by confronting China full on. It has become a matter of who blinks first, and China is not conceding.
