What's in store for the world in 2022?

The pandemic.
How long the pandemic will last will depend on human behaviors. Science can provide the cure through vaccines but if people continue to defy science, it will not help.

It's undeniable. There's a pattern. Nations which subscribe to the values of individual freedom and rights are the ones which are most afflicted by the virus. These are nations where its citizens challenge and defy rules which require them to be vaccinated, wear masks and avoid mass gatherings. People there not only ignore the rules but also hold mass and violent protests against the authorities imposing the rules. Democratic politics is another problem. Elections continue to be held with mass rallies.

As long as governments are weak and allow their citizens to continue to defy science and participate in super-spreading events of mass gatherings, the pandemic will continue.

Global politics
It's the US-China-Russia interplay.

US wants to maintain a world where it's at the top and sets the rules. This is being challenged by China and Russia.

US-China
More competitions and possibly conflicts.
Economics: US will continue in its efforts to loosen the China-centered global supply chain.
Military: US will continue to build up its military presence in Taiwan and the South China Sea.
International politics: The US will continue to use Taiwan, Xinjiang and Tibet to demonise China.

All these will only unite the Chinese more to continue on its rise to challenge US world hegemony.

US-Russia
Russia is confident of its military might. It will not play second fiddle to the US. In the Ukraine issue, Russia will not back down. As long as it can, it will come to the rescue of ethnically-Russian Donbass. It's just like the Brits and
and the Falklands Islands or Gibraltar.

China-Russia
The US does not want to deal with China and Russia in ways which will antagonise both, causing them to unite against the US. But that's exactly what is happening. The US is pushing Russia and China closer together.
