What are some advanced and modern military innovations that have failed?

LCS program, also known as the Littoral Combat Ship program. One of the
biggest military budget boondoggles in the last 50 years, only
challenged by the Crusader Artillery program. This POS money pit was
over $30 billion and produced ships that are already being mothballed
because they are useless. As a result, this military meltdown has forced
us to purchase the licensing rights to build Italian Frigates to fill a
gap in naval capabilities. This is basically unheard of.

Daniel Kamakura
I hadn’t heard about the Italian frigates—last I heard, they were simply
going to continue using the Oliver Hazard Perry-frigates far longer than
they originally intended to.

Katherine Bowman
Absolutely not. OHP class are hopelessly outdated. While we do have some
in mothballs, they will most likely see their final days as target
practice or in a scrap yard. We are receiving two Frigates from
Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin very soon.

Daniel Kamakura
Ah, you’re right. It looks like the plans were scrapped fairly quickly
in December of 2017.

Lovely answer. You're getting that well deserved attention. Your hard
work payed off.

I am kinda saddened by it, though. The Freedom Class has been one of my
favorite designs of the modern area despite its flaws like the cracking
in the hull.

Katherine Bowman
Yeah, large aluminum vessels was a risk.

Fred Moore Aluminium burns. Steel doesn't.
