Just heard that the USS Gerald Ford will be here on Friday for some R&R.
I'll try to get some photos. Just took the outboard off my RIB for the season so I can't cruise out to welcome the carrier as it steams into the middle harbour area. Too bad that the nuke carriers stay out at anchor off the north tip of MacNabs Island, the older boats up to Coral Sea would dock either in our Dockyard or along the Seawall at piers 20, 21 and 22.

Just got back from seeing and photographing the Gerald R Ford. As I had guessed it's moored out in the stream just south of George's Island. Biggest noticeable difference from the Nimitz class carriers is the size of the island (is that terminology good enough for you, Justine). Looks like most of her escort ships are tied up in the Dockyard. Not quite as easy to single out the swabbies. In the good o'le days they had to wear the Popeye suit ashore. Now they dress in civie clothes.
