The PA refused them. Abbas said he wanted to make sure of their quality
first. Although he did not say “Israel is giving us expired vaccines”,
that was how people interpreted it. Abbas then claimed they could not
administer them fast enough, before the expiration date. Doesn’t seem to
be a problem for the Koreans, does it? Most of the vaccines in question
were expiring end of July. Even the ones expiring in June had two weeks
to go when the deal was first discussed.

Abbas also vetoed Israel’s request to set up vaccination facilities at
the Temple Mount, so that the tens of thousands of Arabs who visit there
could have access to vaccines. He did not want it to look like Israel
had anything to do with the Temple Mount. Israel offered to have shots
administered by Arabs, with not a single symbol of Israel in sight, but
that was not good enough.

Some things are more important than human lives, I guess.
