Wendy's is upgrading its french fries

The fast food chain is giving its top-selling menu item a makeover for
the Covid era: a fry that retains more heat and keeps its crispiness
longer compared to its predecessor. The upgraded fry, which will be
available nationwide by mid-September, was created as more people
shift their ordering preferences to drive-thrus and delivery because
of the pandemic.

Although the look of the new fries will be familiar to Wendy's fans,
the flavor won't.

"They're going to notice a difference as soon as they taste it,"
Wendy's President Kurt Kane told CNN Business in an exclusive
interview. "The proof will be in the tasting."

In my opinion, Wendy's has the worst fast food fries out there, so any
change has the potential of being an improvement.

I just tried their fries as I tried out their *non-alcoholic* Bourbon
burger and it offered free baconator fries. Lots of bacon and cheese
didn't change the verdict: they still suck. Not cooked enough and limp.
Glad they included a fork. The cheese sucked too.

I go to a seafood place in a PA Dutch store which feature the best fries
I've had anywhere. Next time I go by there I'll take a picture or five.
Great coating, crispy as fuck and whatever seasoning they put on them is
both subtle and addicting. Usually that comes with the meal which is
always excellent. I had a crabcake sandwich with fries and coleslaw for
7.50, the icea tea was 1.25 and I left two bucks and change for a tip.

The above Wendy's meal was 8.50 for the burger, 2.39 for the drink and
the fries would have been 3.25.

The value between the two is miles apart and the seafood stand is
cheaper, even with a hefty tip. The fries are in the background below but
that platter is probably around 9 bucks when it's not the special.

Wendy's has really plummeted in quality since Dave Thomas died.
Not that it was super great before. The "natural cut" fries were, and
I'm certain are, TERRIBLE!

I got the large Frosty, so it was actually 2.49. I never order their
other drinks other than an iced coffee from a drive through window.
Before the pandemic I used to make a cherry/lime ginger ale from their
self-serve drink machine when I could dine in.

All delivered in just under 6 minutes from the time of order. Pretty
fast, eh? (Fuck off, Saukweasel, it's fast food that is made to order.)

No, they're idiots. One of them even assumed they were poppers. It's
really a pretty full meal.

It's basically a better flavored and seasoned crab cake. How would they
know what's inside the crab imperial until I break it open? There's some
nice chunks of *real* crab meat inside the breading.

are $5.69. $2.09, and $2.69.

I was doing this from memory but I had the double, a large frosty and
the fries were part of a free offer. I ballparked and rounded off the
price when not absolutely sure.

I just simulated an order and the price for the burger is 8.79 at the
spot I picked, the Baconator fries are 3.29 and the large Frosty is
2.49.

Poor Steve. I actually underestimated the prices at the local store.

But I had no idea the price varied so widely. I'm begining to see why
Jenny never JKF'ed Steve, Jenny actually stood a chance of winning an
argument.
