A friend of mine rated about 1650 defeated a 2200 player with the Danish gambit. The game
was published in the "Larry Evans on Chess" column in CL&R in the early 1990s.

Another CL&R article gave a game won by a 1200 player against a master. Again I can't
be specific about the time, however. I subscribed from 87 to 93, so in that period.
