Well, for now this project has been brought to a successful end.
Thanks to everybody who helped:

The sculptor has agreed.

The scanned data has been made available,

see part of the email:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Just saw your email earlier today.

Here is the file release and the data:

https://theworldsend.eu/oc/s/3YzTtYsctbYn9yQ

For the Prusa slicer, the scaling factor is 21560

Before I had passed on the dragon 10 years ago,
I took 700 photos, in the hope that the dragon could materialize again for me.
A 3D printer or even having Meshroom available was a long way off for me,
but 3 years ago the time came.
Unfortunately, I didn't choose the camera positions then as Meshroom expected.
Nevertheless, the result is quite good, except for a snout.
With Blender this could be repaired, so I have included 1 photo.
(But it could also be that my son will fix this soon.)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So now I hope that some people here will try it out and give feedback.

This is a different one from the award one
<https://wiki.forth-ev.de/lib/exe/fetch.php/infos:swap-bronze.gif>

The award one holds its head differently and has a jagged back-ridge.

This is a Forth-eV price - and a German project.
When I tried to find out if a wider usage can be achieved,
I always kept Forth-eV involved and they could have taken over any time as I had suggested.
So they basically agreed with what I did.

The original will always stay the same original as on Rolf's turn table.
When Rolf agred this was the point to take it further.
And Forth-eV was always in copy.

How this is different to the bronze version that is handed over every year I do not know.

How this is different to the 3D Scan I do not know either yet.

And actually - It does not matter to me.

Rolf as the sculptor of the original has agreed that it can be be distributed which I applaud.

The 3D scan is freely available now to be printed by anybody interested.
Which I say thank you to as well.
Bernd Paysan actually copied the person involved.

Somebody might put in the work to have the bronze version scanned again in better quality
and call it the official version scan.

My goal was that Swappie can be enjoyed by many on this planet.
Not just by the few for just one year - and an empty place afterwards.
This has been achieved.

I had asked in these emails the Forth-eV people
Bernd Paysan
Michael Kalus
Ul;rich Hoffmann
to take over this project and make sure it is according to their rules.
Bernd just copied in the one who scanned it - so this should be as the bronze version.

Bernd supported what happened
Michael supported what happened
Ulrich did not want to comment - so I assume agreed by default.

The target I had has been achieved.
Long live Swappie.

For the benefit of the non-German community a quick translation:
Thank you very much Michael for your comment.

Michael answered:
The original "swap" was made of plastic and smelled like strawberries.
The aim at the time then was to have the swap cast in bronze.
Rolf Kretzschmar, as a sculptor, teacher and Forth fan and member of the Forth Society
and able to create bronze sculptures, got the job.
He made studies in clay for the Swap sculpture, which is not a simple form for a bronze cast.
He finally selected one of them for the cast,
presented it to me as the client in Aachen,
and then this sculpture was cast in a foundry in Aachen using the lost-mold method.
The cast succeeded!
Since then, this bronze sculpture has existed as a one-off.
Of course, the bronze sculpture differs from the other designs.
And of course the sculptor is free to show his other designs.
Regards, Michael

The story I heard is that Kretschmar himself had said: If
Forth-Gesellschaft holds out a decade, he makes a bronze replacement
for the plastic Swap Dragon.

>He made studies in clay for the Swap sculpture,

Did he not use wax for the model(s), and clay for the mold?

As stated of Forth-eV, copied from there:
https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/en:infos:drachenpreis

1986 – A prize is born
On its second yearly conference the FORTH society initiated the SWAP-Dragon prize,
with which Michael Kalus was honoured for his enormous work
in the early days of the Vierten Dimension, the member journal of the FORTH society.
When he was presented with a little two-headed toy dragon,
he was so impressed that he declared:

When this all lasts for 10 years, I will donate one made from bronze.

Although it is still unclear, what he meant with this all,
it did last for more than 10 years
and there are still witnesses for this amongst us.

The plastic SWAP dragon had a notable property.
It smelled surprisingly of strawberries!
Unfortunately we cannot show that here. (So much for multimedia :-)
Here a photo of the plastic trophy on Forth-eV:

I just received a very kind email:

Hi Juergen,
It’s on its way.

So, I should be a proud owner of a DRAGON within a week.
Excellent support from all sides.

The Dragon Has Landed ...
6.5 cm high
in white.
Love it.
I hope that dog and dragon can live in peace together.
I have posted 2 pictures in the Forth facebook group for people who want to see it.

Project finished successfully ...
The Dragon Has Landed at our home.

The 3D printed dragon arrived,
so as final step here the list of links
collected for anybody interested:

The link I fell over and where I saw the Dragon Prize first
https://mecrisp-stellaris-folkdoc.sourceforge.io/swap-dragon-prize.html

this lead to this link Swap Dragon Prize
Reference: https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/en:infos:drachenpreis
You can switch to English there

Link to the Forth-eV magazine
https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/vd-archiv

Bernd Paysan did a Dragon in software
https://bernd-paysan.de/dragon/

I contacted the sculptor Rolf Kretzschmar ,
and he put the original back into the set of his work on instagram
And kindly gave permission to reuse for non-commercial
https://www.instagram.com/rollemoor/?hl=en-gb
Click on the link and the turn table will show you the 360 degrees

And an interesting link to the 2019 Dragon video showing the real thing
13 / 04 / 2019 at 10.20
https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/events:ft2019:start

and the video on Saturday
https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/events:ft2019:drachenpreis

Shown there by Ulrich Hoffmann,
And there are 2 3D printed dragons in the video

And which treasure is protected by the dragon?
He/She is sitting on in the video on it.

So how did these 3D printed dragans come to life?
The originator of the scan and 3D print was found,
the data kindly released

Here is the file release and the data:
https://theworldsend.eu/oc/s/3YzTtYsctbYn9yQ
For the Prusa slicer, the scaling factor is 21560

I found a friend nearby with a 3D printer
who did me the favour of a small 6.5cm test print
the real thing is double the height as I understand.
And I am now a proud owner since yesterday 25/02/2022.
This was to prove that it all works.

I hope some more Forth Dragons
will populate this world soon.
As for many of us the condition to get a real one will not be possible:
be at a Forth-eV meeting
so the dragon can see you
and you have done the work to deserve this prize …

2 pictures of the one done for me you can find here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/PROGRAMMINGFORTH
Just scroll down.
