Apologies if required. But I suspect this group has a mindset that
appreciates "simple solutions to simple(sic) problems" ;/

My email provider notified me they were retiring their email and web
hosting services [years ago they had ceased being an ISP].
[ did I mention that was back in dial-up days. *ROFL*]

I will continue using SeaMonkey as my plaintext POP email client.
There is *NO* need/desire for encryption as >99% of emails are either:
1. to high volume FOSS mailing lists
2. to techie USENET groups
[My underlying presupposition is "ANYthing on WEB is *PUBLIC*!!!!!]
I prefer services I explicitly pay for
[i.e. There is no such thing as a free lunch ;]

You don't indicate if you have your own domain name. If you do, you can host email where you host your web site. If you don't have a domain name, get one. They are cheap, ~$10 a year. I can give you hosting, with email. But it has one downside. It's free. I can't do anything about that. I've already paid for a year or two and I can host something like 10 accounts. I'm only using four I think.

If you would like to use this, reply here or use the email address on this post with the obvious bits removed.

I've avoided getting my own domain name because I have no idea of what
ramifications it might have. I don't think I do/could have any need for
an actual "web site".

I have placed multiple clients at tutanota.com. They're _very_ privacy
focused, and probably not a good fit for you.

I just placed a client at zoho.com. They have a suite of offerings including
email. The config is a bit of a wander due to this generality, but their
tech support is easy to reach and seemed to know the product. My client
chose them because they have web mail, but also IMAP and even POP support.
I don't have anywhere the years of experience with them as Tutanota, but--so
far, so good.

*DEFINITELY* ;/
In fact the feature list at https://tutanota.com/email-comparison raves
about some "features" being present/absent in their/competition's
product. I judge some to be an advantage of the competition. That page
is useful in listing some they consider competition [e.g. Protonmail,
Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail, Posteo, Hushmail, Fastmail, Mailbox,
Startmail, Riseup, etc.]
That gives me a list of viable prospects ;}

Didn't find much on the web. I suspect they are too focused on being
productivity software to be attractive to an individual user wishing
email only.

I've been having an offline discussion with Lorem Ipsum and recently got
replies to a related post on alt.comp.software.seamonkey .

I'm getting a better idea on the what and why of my preferences.

As I have much free time the next couple of days, I'll more thoroughly
investigate the list of options Tutanota so conveniently provided.

Depending on how educable I am, there may be a "How to ask a question"
post in our future.

Thanks again.
