I've been playing with AVR Microcontrollers for a while, and have
recently begun reading through (far too much) of the AVR-GCC & AVR-libc
documentation ([1],[2]).

I can't seem to find what the "proper" (if any) term for the tools is
(which most likely means I just can't google well). Is it just an
"implementation", or is there a better description?
