I'm principally interested in technical discussions, eg, about Rust and
memory safety, and sometimes motivated to try my hands at minimally
creative flames when people are trying to play the Most Importinant

Indeed. Several years ago, in some Russian forum during a
discussion of interfaces in various OSes, I mentioned that I
used FAR Manager (inspired by Norton Commander) in my
Windows and that I felt uneasy at any Windows PC without
FAR. I remember the reaction of one user. He wrote: "I hope
you dinosaurs will die out soon."

Midnight Commander is another pretty good file manager based on NC.
