Incorrect. For reasons that should now be obvious.

Not just a cultural staple (presuming that's what you intended, "staple"
being a main or important element of something in this context), but
also a convention. However, it's not just that, it's a convention that
was standardised in the very core of a large number of the protocols
that let the modern internet work at all.

Those who have never seen an internet that wasn't a browser or an "app"
will have no understanding of that, and our explanations won't even make
sense to them.

I presume you've seen the video clip of a baby who's clearly familiar
with the swipey interface of a modern tablet utterly confused when
presented with a printed magazine. Paper doesn't zoom with a pinch!

They don't teach cursive writing in many schools nowadays.

Time has moved on.

However, that doesn't mean we have to move where everyone else has moved
to if we don't want to. I'm with Tim's Team Bah Humbug (and thus
appreciate your .sig too).

No, but I am well aware how quickly childen learn modern
mobile interfaces. A low entry threshold has serious
drawbacks, though, and they are mercifully exploited by
commercial software.

Especially considering how important /this/ sort of fine
motorics is for early intellectual development. I have got
me a fountain pen, but have not restored my cursive yet.
