I remember downloading a PDF version of AoA back in 1999, when it was not in official print yet, then printing first 12 chapters and having it bound in hard cover. I added a "Volume 1 (ch. 1-12)" to indicate that I'd print the rest a little later (binding was a killer, like 80 bucks or something for a hungry student).

What I'm getting at is that these 12 chapters alone made for 698 pages of text. So how is it that the 2nd edition on Amazon has 768 pages in toto? Something got slashed, big time! Anyone knows where to get that old version?

Then there was the HLA, and the Windows ASM, and 64 bit version... How many variations were there? I hear Randall frequents this place, perhaps he'd be best fit to answer, if no one else.

Thank you for your attention and answers.

By the way, since on the front custom page I added "Traditional ASM", probably that means that the HLA version was already out on the web. Just a frame of reference.

The edition sought has been located at https://flint.cs.yale.edu/cs421/index.html
Perhaps this will be of some benefit to someone else as well. There are also intel 2003 manuals on ia-32 there as well as some compiler related stuff and the like.
Nevertheless I am still interested in finding out about all editions of Hyde's book (roughly listed earlier) between the said one and up to first hitting the official publishing house.
Greetings to all members.
Alex.

''The published edition of Randall Hyde's "The Art of Assembly Language"
has been edited to emphasize the most important material a beginner
needs to know in order to learn assembly language quickly. The
accompanying CD-ROM contains the software, examples, and other
information you'll need to learn assembly language programming. Also
included on the CD-ROM are the electronic versions of the original
